AV Dawson Transport’s road haulage team serves rail terminals, ports and manufacturers across the UK.

Current freight includes iso tanks and containers, automotive steel coil, long steel aggregates, fertilisers and waste including refuse-derived fuel (RDF). 

The business operates an extensive fleet of over 175 trailers which enables it to transport a wide range of cargo types, including conventional and container haulage. 

AV Dawson Transport prides itself on its responsiveness to support customers’ needs. All vehicles are fitted with the latest road management software with CCTV and track and trace systems, providing the capability to deliver sophisticated just-in-time operations. All trailers are maintained by an in-house team of mechanical fitters, ensuring efficiency and reliability. 

AV Dawson Transport is accredited by FORS, illustrating the business’ dedication to driver and vehicle safety and improving operating practices. It was also the first port in Great Britain to be awarded the government’s Earned Recognition status. AV Dawson’s drivers are all CPC compliant and a large number of its tipper trained drivers also hold the MPQC driver skills card – an industry wide safety initiative backed by the Mineral Products Association (MPA). 

The business specialises in local hub distribution, providing added efficiencies for customers utilising the road haulage services alongside port, rail and warehousing operations. This ensures services are co-ordinated effectively to deliver maximum efficiencies and cost savings for customers. 

To support AV Dawson Transport’s haulage capabilities, Tees Riverside Intermodal Park (TRIP), which is located at Port of Middlesbrough, can be used for short term storage to maximise fleet efficiencies. TRIP can provide loaded and empty container handling and storage, vanning and devanning services.
