Cargo Handling & Distribution
With 1km of prime river frontage, load-out and heavy lift quays, lifting capacity up to 125 tonnes and a renowned strength in cargo handling and distribution, Port of Middlesbrough’s port operations are the natural choice for all your sea-.freight and project cargo requirements.
Port of Middlesbrough boasts four rail linked berths along 1km of quayside which can accommodate ships up to 220m length and 33m beam, with a maximum draft of 8.5m. The facility is supported by a variety of onsite mobile harbour cranes, reach stackers and forklift trucks enabling fast and efficient loading and unloading of all cargo types.
Quayside Warehousing
Port operations are supported with a range of quayside warehouses and business units where customers can store product types from pallets, bags and bulk to specialist equipment and project cargo. Many of these warehouses have in shed crane capacity and are meters from the quay enabling efficient store to ship transfer.

Port of Middlesbrough benefits from its own on-site ships agency, Cockfield Knight, working closely with the quayside team to provide a fast and efficient service.
The quayside is also home to three fabrication halls with direct river access. The halls stand 42m high and have internal crane capacity of 20 tonnes making them ideal for the construction of large structures.
Trailer and Truck Maintenance
All of these services are supported by AV Dawson’s in-house trailer and plant maintenance team reducing risk of operational downtime and improving cost efficiencies for customers.
