Ayrton Rail TerminalÂ
specialises in bulk and dry goods , with rail connections to heated storage. Additional facilities include rail pit and conveyor discharge into warehousing, all just meters from the mainline.
Convenient off dock container storage offering loaded and empty container and tank handling and storage vanning and devanning. The site also benefits from a canopy-covered rail loading pad to enable dry loading.
Offering rail access to Port of Middlesbrough’s deepwater berths.
Provides a rail link-directly into temperature and humidity-controlled distribution centres ideal for storage of coil and plate used in automotive and yellow goods supply chains.

The port’s four rail terminals adjoin the local Middlesbrough Goods Yard exchange sidings where up to 100 wagons can be stabled. Port of Middlesbrough has a long term lease from Network Rail to operate and maintain this facility.
The three leading rail freight operators DB Cargo, Freightliner Heavy Haul and GB Rail Freight have partnerships with Port of Middlesbrough to use the facility, assisted by the port’s own shunt locomotive.
